Train in Person

Real Students. Real Skill. Real Results.

Hi, I'm Joanna

Joanna Santiago is an AAM Board Certified Permanent Makeup Artist, PMU Educator, and owner of Aesthetik Artistry Studio in Springfield, Massachusetts. With more than a decade of experience in permanent makeup and aesthetics, she has helped clients and students build confidence through ethical, skill-driven education.

She didn’t enter this industry to chase trends or shortcuts. She built her career by doing the work, learning skin at a deeper level, and holding herself to a higher standard.

She's seen what happens when artists are rushed through training, handed a certificate, and sent off without the confidence or understanding they actually need - She knows because she's been there herself. That’s why her programs are intentionally structured, hands-on, and rooted in ethics, and real-world application.

Joanna doesn’t just teach technique — she teaches judgment, responsibility, and professionalism. Her goal is to help you become an artist who understands why you’re doing what you’re doing, not just how to replicate a brow you saw online.

If you’re ready to take permanent makeup seriously — and you want to be trained by someone who puts clients, skin integrity, and long-term results first — you’re in the right place.

Our Approach to PMU Education

Permanent makeup isn’t just technique — it’s responsibility.
I don’t rush artists. I don’t teach trends without foundation. And I don’t pass students who aren’t ready.

You’ll learn anatomy, skin behavior, proper depth, pigment theory, consultation skills, and ethical decision-making — because your future clients deserve more than “good enough."

If you’re looking for a shortcut to a quick certificate, this isn’t it.

Why you will love it

I train artists the way I’d want someone treating my own face.

What Is Permanent Makeup?

Permanent makeup, often referred to as PMU or cosmetic tattooing, is a specialized form of tattooing designed to enhance natural features such as the eyebrows, eyes, lips, and skin - even though some people just talk about "Microblading" as if that's what permanent makeup is called..

Unlike traditional body tattooing, permanent makeup requires an understanding of skin behavior, pigment selection, color theory, facial anatomy, healing, and long-term pigment retention.

Successful permanent makeup artists do much more than simply implant pigment into the skin. They must understand how skin type, age, lifestyle, sun exposure, medications, previous procedures, and healing responses can impact results.
This is why proper education is so important.

Why Choosing the Right PMU Training Matters

The permanent makeup industry has grown rapidly over the last decade. Unfortunately, not all training programs are created equal.

Some courses focus heavily on social media trends while skipping critical topics such as:

  • Skin anatomy

  • Pigment behavior

  • Color correction

  • Client safety

  • Contraindications

  • Long-term healed results

At Aesthetik Artistry Studio, we believe permanent makeup education should prepare students for real clients and real-world situations—not just what looks good on social media.

Why Hands-On Training Matters

Watching videos online can be helpful, but there is no substitute for hands-on experience.
One of the biggest advantages of in-person permanent makeup training is the opportunity to receive real-time feedback and guidance.

Students benefit from:

  • Live demonstrations

  • Guided practice

  • Instructor feedback

  • Live model experience

  • Real-world problem solving

This helps bridge the gap between theory and real client work.
