Frequently asked questions

Is permanent jewelry a piercing or implanted into the skin?

No. Permanent jewelry are custom fit pieces like anklets or bracelets that are joined together with a tiny spark micro weld without a clasp. Don’t worry. Nothing is going into your skin and you can remove it whenever you’d like.

Is it painful?

It doesn't hurt at all. No heat or sparks ever touch your skin. My youngest daughter sat through her bracelet and necklace with so much excitement.

What happens if I need it removed?

Simple. You can come in so we can remove it for you OR you can simply at the “jump ring” with small scissors or a small wire cutter - and save it so you can put it back on later.

Can it last forever? Will it break?

Jewelry is jewelry it doesn't matter if it has a clasp or not. It needs to be taken care of. That means yanking or pulling at the chain and making sure it doesn't get caught and pulled. Jewelry is durable NOT indestructible. Remember these pieces are dainty so be careful during day to day wear.

What is the difference between gold plated, gold filled and solid gold?

Gold Plated , is typically, Metal (such as brass, copper, wire, or unknown metal) cased over with a thin plating of gold (typically containing 0.05% gold or less). Gold plated jewelry will oxidize over time and can corrode. It does tarnish quickly. Gold plating is so much cheaper than other types of jewelry because it uses such a tiny amount of gold.

Gold Filled created with a sheet of solid gold with a core sheet of metal (commonly jeweler's brass) which is then rolled and bonded. US standards require the gold layer to consist of 1/20th (or 5%) of the jewelry’s total weight. Gold filled jewelry acts just like a solid gold piece due to the amount of solid gold sheeting it was created with which is about 100x the amount of gold in the Gold filled vs the gold plated process. Gold filled is much more higher is quality than Gold Plated or Gold Vermeil, but not as expensive as Solid Gold. Gold Filled can handle daily wear and can last a lifetime with proper care.

Solid Gold is made of gold. There are different karats of gold, which is the amount of gold vs alloy. 24K gold (pure) can be too soft and tactile so gold is alloyed with other metals to give it more strength and durability. 14K is 14 parts gold and 10 parts alloy. 18K is 18 parts gold and 6 parts alloy. Because the piece is made of solid gold they are extremely expensive.

What is sterling silver 925?

'Fine silver is 99.9% pure silver. In this form the metal is beautiful and suffers from minimal tarnish, but it's generally too soft and malleable for many uses, including making most silver jewellery. Instead fine silver is alloyed with copper to create sterling silver, which is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. This percentage of fine silver is why you will sometimes see sterling silver referred to as '925 silver' or hallmarked with a 925 stamp. The copper makes the silver harder, more durable and therefore much better to work with and use, but without compromising on colour. Most silver jewellery that you buy and wear will be sterling silver. The copper added to sterling silver will cause it to tarnish more easily, with the metal turning dark brown or black over time, especially in humid conditions. However, it's easy to clean and beneath the tarnish your sterling silver will still be in great condition: it won't rust or perish with normal use. See our handy links to articles about cleaning silver jewellery for more information. Because silver is soft you should take a bit more care with cleaning it. Never use harsh cleansers such as baking soda or toothpaste as they will remove some of the metal over time."

Does 925 Sterling Silver tarnish overtime?

Our silver jewelry is .925 sterling silver which can temporarily tarnish due to oxidation, exposure to moisture or air, chlorine, sulfur, bleach, or other strong chemicals. This is normal with daily wear. A silver cleaning wipe will clean it right off and bring it back to life!

What if my jewelry breaks?
