Summer Skincare

With every season that comes, we need to understand that external environmental factors can affect our skin and need to adjust our skincare accordingly. 🤌 I just want you to know the importance of taking care of your skin this summer without compromising your summer fun ! You should be able to enjoy it and live your best life this summer babe !

Sun Protection

We always need to protect our skin from the sun. In the summer, you might feel it's effects even more. It's important to take the time and remember to apply SPF and a little lip care too. You want to protect your skin from UVA (aging), UVB (burning), and UVC (cancer). I love and recommend using a mineral-based SPF that contains Zinc or Titanium Oxide rather than other SPF's that have chemical sun blockers in them. Make sure you are reapplying SPF throughout the day, one application for a full day in the sun just will not cut it babe. As for the lips, a lot of people forget to take care of the skin on their lips. THEY CAN BURN TOO. Plenty of lip balms have SPF in them. 😉

Moisturize

Just because it's summer doesn't mean you shouldn't moisturize your skin. If you're like me, someone who has oily or combination skin, you may not like the feeling of sweat or oils in combination with a thick greasy moisturizer - and I'm not saying you have to use a thick greasy moisturizer either. In the winter, your skin is drier than the summer, however you still need to moisturize. Try a light moisturizer INSTEAD. If you aren't sure what to get, go to your local sephora or Ulta or fav. beauty store and try different moisturizers to see how they feel. The key for a summertime moisturizer is to KEEP it LIGHT.

Makeup

Let your skin breath girl. You don't need to cake it on in the summer. I prefer to use a tinted moisturizer/serum or BB cream. They typically can always be found with a little SPF protection AND I don't have to worry about my makeup melting off my face. If i wake up with a little redness or maybe I'm just feeling like a need a little something, that is my absolute go to. Who wants to wear a full face when the sun it out, you're going to sweat, and besides if you go swimming it's just going to wash away!

Exfoliating Your Skin

Yes, you can still exfoliate your skin. It keeps your pores from clogging and getting those annoying break outs. The one thing I want you to remember is to not over-exfoliate. Keep it down to 1-2 times a week and NEVER do it when your skin is sunburned. Can you imagine the pain. Your skin will be screaming on the inside ! Ouch!

Antioxidants

Try adding an antioxidant serum to your routine. Vitamin C is amazing and safe to use during the day. It helps prevent skin and environmental damage.

If you have rosacea or if your skin is irritated, green tea is also amazing. You can even try a green tea rinse by using all natural green tea bags (steeping them, cooling them, and using the tea to rinse your face). It is refreshing and has SO many skin care benefits.

Let me know if you have any questions about your skincare routine or need help with any skin care concerns . Although I no longer provide skincare services as a licensed Aesthetician, I can provide you with recommendations for skin care products and skin care professionals in the area !
